The Acheson Business Association is pleased to announce that nominations for the 2010 Business Recognition Awards are now open.
Awards nominations will be accepted for Overall Beautification – “Bricks & Mortar” Award and Most Improved – “Revitalization or Rehabilitation” Award as well as the new award introduced in 2008, The Green Award.
A committee from the Acheson Board of Directors will be the selection committee and will be scouting the Acheson Industrial Area for member businesses to be nominated – but don’t wait to be nominated…

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND AWARD CATEGORIES
Nominated businesses for all categories will be an Acheson Business Association Member and a business in the Acheson Industrial Area.
AWARD CATEGORIES
Overall Beautification – “Bricks & Mortar” Award
Criteria for the Overall Beautification award is a new or established business that has high curb appeal.
- overall appeal of the grounds and building
- maintenance quality of buildings and/or landscaping
- unique feature
- quality landscaping projects
Most Improved
Criteria for the Most Improved award is an established business that has made noticeable efforts to improve an existing location – interior or exterior
- revitalization or rehabilitation of a business location in Acheson which in turn encourages surround business rehabilitation
- improvements made to the landscaping, fencing, building exterior
Criteria for the Green Award is to recognize the efforts of business that embraces the three “R”’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle or innovative and creative practices.
- Water Conservation
- Recycling Programs (shredding)
- Waste reduction
- Green Innovations (paperless office)
- Energy Efficiency
- Greenhouse Gas/Pollution Control
- Use of sustainable resources
- Other
Businesses may be nominated more than once but may only receive one award in a period of 24 months. You are encouraged to nominate your own business or nominate a neighbouring business for one or more of the above categories.
Please submit your nominations no later August 15, 2010 (sooner would be greatly appreciated).
